Assistant Estimator
Bergan Architectural Woodworking is a manufacturer of premium custom woodworking for commercial construction projects from New York to Boston. Since 1976, we have focused on delivering the highest quality product to our customers.
We have an entry level position for an individual interested in learning how to estimate custom woodwork projects. We want to train the right individual to become a full Estimator within 24 months. As custom manufacturers, every day brings a new challenge. We are looking for someone who can adapt and problem solve in a positive and professional manner. All estimating is done on-screen. We are constantly looking for new ways to work more efficiently and accurately using the latest technology.

Experience:
If you are lacking in any of these areas, you must be willing and able to learn quickly
• Read and understand architectural drawings and specifications
• Work efficiently in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook)
• Work with PDFs in Bluebeam
• Woodwork shop or installation experience is a plus
Responsibilities:
Pre-Bid process
• Respond to Invitations to Bid
• Enter project information into Bergan’s database
• Download files and maintain an up-to-date and orderly electronic file folder for each project
• Coordinate with the estimator to hit estimate deliverables schedule
Project Take-off
• Review plans, specifications, pre-bid addenda and any other documentation
• Perform on-screen take-off using Bluebeam software – this involves identifying the millwork scope on a project and accurately counting the items
• Import raw data into Excel
• Work with Estimator to finely tune the estimate
• Review bid with Estimator
Post-Award
• Assemble all paperwork and information for review by the Estimator
• Take part in Project Kick-off meeting with Project Manager, Owner, and Production Personnel
