A Culture Built On Improvement

Bergan Architectural Woodworking was started by Richard T. Bergan in 1976, in his parent’s garage in Middletown, CT.

During a trade show in the early 80’s, Rich watched as the established machinery and hardware leaders sat smoking cigars in their empty booths, while attendees crowded the vendors providing solutions for the new European style of cabinetry.

The European style was a clear technological improvement to the old process of building cabinets. After that event, Rich transformed his operation to build in the European style. He also took it as a lesson that one can never sit back and smoke cigars while the competition is creating new ways to do your job better.

It is that founding ethos that continues to guide the company today. We combine our deep industry experience with new ways of building to tackle the latest challenges.
